Our library is a very important and highly valued area of the school. It is equipped with seating and study spaces for approximately 40 pupils and has a computerised issuing facility, enabling our book stock and all our non-book resources to be used effectively. The library is very well used and a large number of book issues are made every week. Pupils are encouraged to use the library in lesson time, during the lunch period, at break time and after school. Planned library lessons ensure that pupils learn to use all of the searching and information facilities of a modern library. Electronic information provision is also available to allow pupils access to electronic encyclopaedias, national newspaper back numbers and audio visual material. We also have networked links to the Internet in the library and across the school computer network.
We hope that giving pupils plentiful access and freedom to use the library will equip them to handle information easily and confidently. We also hope to encourage a love of books and an enthusiasm for reading in our pupils that will stay with them throughout life.
